Vanessa Torrecillas May | Justice Involved Childhood | Youth Mentor | Hustle PHX
Vanessa is born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. From growing up as the daughter of an incarcerated father, to being justice involved herself, her story is one that has been deeply impacted by the criminal justice system. She has experienced many trials within her resilient journey of life, but also found great hope, purpose, and healing. Her story offers a rich perspective into what many youth are experiencing today. She currently a coordinator for the Hustle PHX Youth Entrepreneurship Program, a 13-week course designed to empower justice-involved youth by providing them with the essential skills to succeed in the business world.
Neighbor's Table Podcast aims to facilitate restorative conversation around the realities of criminal justice and mass incarceration. Our prayer is that the church in America would know how to enter into these conversations, and that movement would start with listening to our neighbors. Something powerful happens when people listen to one another. We hope that love of neighbor leads to advocacy for those that society overlooks.
We offer a full day Liminal Learning experience that walks through the history of the criminal justice system, juxtaposed to the restorative justice model of Jesus. Join the movement!
